Correspondence with Mercy Otis Warren, 1752-1789; bulk: 1752-1782.

Collection consists of thirty years of correspondence between Hannah Winthrop, of Cambridge, Mass., and Mercy Otis Warren, of Plymouth, Mass., 1752-1782. The bulk of the correspondence is from Hannah to Mercy and describes the social and political climate in Boston and Cambridge before, during, and after the Revolutionary War. They discuss, among other topics, their friendship, deaths of friends, brewing hostilities with England, their own patriotism, and describe events such as the Battle of Lexington, and the displacement of their families during the war. Collection also includes typewritten transcriptions of each letter; and transcriptions of letters sent by Mercy Otis to Janet Montgomery, 1780-89.
